Dr. Paul Mizell, Principal
Dr. Mizell is entering his 27th year in education. His educational journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Georgia Southern, where he played baseball, a Master’s degree in Sport Management, also from Georgia Southern, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Lincoln Memorial University, and a Doctorate of Education degree from Walden University in 2013.
Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of working in various roles, including as a High School and Elementary School teacher, an Elementary and Middle School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Principal for a prison in Millen, and Dean of Adult Education and Academic Affairs at Ogeechee Technical College before taking the Principal position at Claxton High School where he is now beginning his seventh year. Each of these experiences has provided him with valuable insights into the diverse needs of our students, parents, and educators, and he looks forward to another successful year at CHS.

Mr. Randy Cooper, Assistant Principal & Athletic Director
Mr. Cooper began his career as a Health and Physical Education teacher over 20 years ago in an elementary setting before transitioning into school administration. His school level educational work experience includes elementary, middle, alternative, and high school positions. Mr. Cooper holds several degrees, including an Associate's in Forest Technology, a Bachelor's from Georgia Southern University in Health & Physical Education, a Master's in Elementary Education from Cambridge College, and an Education Specialist in Leadership from Georgia College and State University.

Mrs. Amy Holland, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Holland spent 24 years in the classroom before transitioning into administration. While in the classroom, Mrs. Holland has always taught high school science, mostly biology and human anatomy. Mrs. Holland graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1998 with a B.S. in Biology. In 2000, Mrs. Holland added her teaching certificate and began teaching that year. Mrs. Holland spent 10 years as the lead learner of the science department actively participating on the Leadership Team. In 2020, Mrs. Holland completed a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, and in 2022 she earned a Tier One Educational Leadership Certificate, both from Georgia Southern University. As an assistant principal, she will interact with students, parents, and teachers helping to prepare our students for success beyond Claxton High School by ensuring that all students are college, career, and community ready.
