NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Evans County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 31.95%.

All concerned citizens are invited to the first public hearing on this tax increase to be held at the Evans County Board of Education Central Office, 705 West Main Street, Claxton, GA 30417 on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm. The second public hearing on this tax increase will be held at the Evans County Board of Education Central Office, 705 West Main Street, Claxton, GA 30417 on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm. The third public hearing on this tax increase will be held at the Evans County Board of Education Central Office, 705 West Main Street, Claxton, GA 30417 on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:00 pm.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 14.00 mills, an increase of 3.390 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 10.610 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $135.60 and the proposed tax increase for non‐homestead property with a fair market value of $50,000 is approximately $67.80.
