Phillip M. Richards will serve as the new head football coach for Claxton High School (CHS). Richards joins CHS from Screven County High School, where he has served as the offensive coordinator, helping to develop a high-powered offense and produce multiple all-region players.
With a coaching career spanning over 30 years, Coach Richards has made a significant impact at numerous Georgia high schools. His experience includes roles as an offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, strength and conditioning coach, and head football coach, leading programs to record-breaking performances and playoff success. His leadership and dedication to student-athlete development make him a great fit to lead the Tigers.
Dr. Paul Mizell, Principal of CHS, stated, "Coach Richards brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a winning culture to our football program. His ability to inspire student-athletes and build competitive teams makes him an outstanding addition to the Claxton Tigers family."
To welcome Coach Richards to the community, CHS invites all students, parents, alumni, and supporters to a Meet & Greet event on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., at the Evans County Board Room. This event will give the community an opportunity to hear from Coach Richards about his vision for the program and show their support for the Tigers.
