During a recent training, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade teachers were equipped with the skills to provide impactful instruction in critical areas such as reading, writing, phonemic awareness, and phonics. This allows students to immediately transfer these foundational skills to reading and writing, reinforcing learning in whole and small groups. Teachers learned new ways to incorporate multisensory activities, which will enhance the learning experience for students.

JUST A REMINDER...ALL REACH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE DUE TO MRS. RUSHING NEXT MONDAY, AUGUST 28TH!
The REACH application has been uploaded to the 8th Grade Class of 2028 Google Classroom. The REACH scholarship provides up to $10,000 that can be used to attend any HOPE eligible college in Georgia.
To be eligible, students need to complete and submit the application by August 28th. This is an excellent opportunity for students to get financial assistance for college costs. Please do not wait until the last minute to begin this, as the application has several parts and takes a while to complete. Every 8th grade student should take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Please contact Ms. Katrina Rushing (krushing@evanscountyschools.org) for more info!
We can't wait to find out who the REACH Scholars for the Class of 2028 will be!

Coach McLean's health classes worked in a group to develop a fictional character called "Magazine Man".
The groups collaborated together to give their person a life and specifically focused on the health of their character. Students focused on life expectancy and quality of life and what factors affect both of them. The students had to pick three positive and three negative factors and put them on a folder board to represent what type of life the "magazine man" might have.
This activity allowed our students to use the 4 Cs: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Using the 4 Cs means students are better prepared for college, career, and community!
We would like to thank the Evans County Public Library for sharing magazines with us to reuse for this learning!

🌟👫 You've Got a Friend in Me 🌟👫
Ms. Cowart, Ms. Thigpen, and Ms. Hendrix's pre-k classes learned about friendship this past week. Just like our 7 Mindsets curriculum teaches us, "We are all connected!" Our pre-k classes discussed how to be a good friend to each other.
At the end of the week, students enjoyed a mixture of all their favorite snacks to create a “Friendship Snack!”

Students in Ms. Adams’s 8th grade English Language Arts classes are reading a graphic novel, annotating the novel, and writing objective summaries about the novel. Students enjoy collaborating with their PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) to get their assignments completed! We want our students to be able to work well with others while completing tasks and assignments. Here at CMS, it's not just about what you learn...it's how you learn it!

Any guesses about how many fans joined us at Tiger Town Stadium on Friday evening? There were over 1400 tickets purchased at the gate! This number doesn't include tickets purchased online at GoFan or GHSA pass entries!
Our very first tickets purchased at the ticket booth at Veterans Memorial Field were bought by the family pictured below! Thanks to Chaise S., a 6th grader at CMS, and his parents for being our FIRST Tiger fans to purchase a walk-up ticket Friday night!
We appreciate everyone who showed up and cheered on our football team, band, cheerleaders, color guard, and community! Thanks for helping us open our new field!
