🔬 5th Grade Scientists Explore Microorganisms! 🦠🎈
Our 5th graders put their scientific thinking to the test with a fun and eye-opening experiment! They mixed yeast, warm water, and sugar in a graduated cylinder and sealed it with a balloon. As the yeast fed on the sugar, it released carbon dioxide, inflating the balloon before their eyes! 🎈✨
This hands-on activity helped students discover how microorganisms can be helpful, like in baking bread or making medicine. But the learning doesn’t stop there! Next, they’ll dive into the other side of microorganisms—exploring how some can be harmful, causing disease or food spoilage.
Science is all about exploration, questioning, and making connections to the world around us! Ask your young scientist what they have been learning! 🧪🔍
