On Friday, August 5th, CMS held First Friday. Students went to the gym during 7th period, and the four houses (Amistad, Reveur, Isibindi, and Altruismo) competed against each other in a game of dodgeball. The House of Amistad won the student battle, and they had to play against the teachers and staff. In a very heated battle, the teacher/staff team came out victorious, but the House of Amistad gave them a big fight! First Friday is a new initiative at CMS to help promote good attendance, good behavior, and better student academic performance. Congratulations to the House of Amistad!

Ms. Mikell’s 4th grade class is learning about place value and the times 10 rule. The students created 4-6 digit numbers and discussed whether or not it met the times 10 rule. They then discussed the relationship between the various digits. Lastly, they used base ten blocks to concretely demonstrate the value of each number they created.
