Remembering Mrs. Connie Strickland We shared the sad news last week of Mrs. Connie Strickland's passing. Mrs. Strickland was a pillar of our Tiger community, always ready with a warm welcome and a helping hand. Her dedication and commitment to our Tigers touched the lives of countless students, staff, parents, families, and community members. Mrs. Strickland is a member of our retiring class of 2024, and we wanted to take another moment to recognize her legacy. Please help us remember Mrs. Strickland's kindness and the impact she made on all of us!

📚 Exciting News from CES! 📚 We have some exciting news from CES! Hundreds of amazing books are headed home with students. 📖✨ All of our elementary students are coming home with new, highly engaging books to read over the summer. 🌞 Students chose their own titles and picked up a summer reading bingo sheet on their way out. 🎉 Thank you, CES, for helping reading adventures continue over summer break! 📘📗 #ReadySetGrow

So often this year we have mentioned the diversity of employment and experiences that our Work-Based Learning students have enjoyed. New CHS alumnus Cristian Vicente-Atjun spent his WBL year in employment with Benitez Painting. Mrs. Johns, WBL coordinator, visited him recently on a job site in Statesboro and observed his skill with the painting equipment. He paused long enough for a picture with his supervisor, Mr. Fulicer Benitez. Cristian plans to remain with Benitez Painting and the construction industry as he attends OTC to pursue a career in electrical sciences. Our top finishers from the K-12 Young Georgia Authors (YGA) and K-8 Georgia Cities competitions received special recognition! We are proud of these students, and we appreciate our staff, families, and community for supporting these AMAZING TIGERS! Mr. Jason Trotter, our ECCSS School Nutrition Program (SNP) Coordinator, recognized our AWESOME SNP staff for all they pour into our Tigers each and every meal! Mrs. Julie Howard, Mrs. Tanita McDowell, and Dr. Paul Mizell, shared Employees of the Month for CES, CMS, and CHS during the ECCSS BOE meeting. Congratulations to our Employees of the Month for April! CES: Whitney Smith and Geneva Mikell CMS: Shannon Yurek and Gloriela Hunter CHS: Jenna Watkins and Alma Smart Dr. Kristy Vandenberg, Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services, shared an update for the Comprehensive School Improvement (CSI) progress and next steps. Dr. Bobby Costlow, Human Resources Officer, shared drafts of the athletic, student, and personnel handbooks. Dr. Marty Waters, ECCSS Superintendent, shared the tentative FY 25 budget.

May 17 Graduation Update Due to the projected weather for Saturday, CHS graduation will be moved indoors to the CHS Gym/Durell Lynn Arena with the CHS Cafetorium serving as an overflow for a video stream of graduation. We realize this is not ideal as limited seating will apply. The safety of our Tiger students, staff, families, and community members is our number one priority. Each graduate has 12 tickets to share with parents, family, and friends. Due to safety guidelines, all guests must have a ticket to enter. ---Two tickets designated for parent/family floor passes for gym ---Seven tickets designated for gym bleacher seating ---Three tickets designated for overflow seating in the cafeteria (there will be a video stream of graduation in the cafeteria) We ask for and appreciate your patience and flexibility as we prepare to celebrate this AWESOME Class of 2024!
