Claxton Middle School students were excited to get back into the media center this week. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students attended the media center orientation session with Mrs. Durrence, and then they each were able to check out two books. Students are being encouraged to read within their Lexile bands this year. Information on understanding your child's Lexile level can be found on the Claxton Middle School webpage under the Parent Resources tab.

The students had a blast drawing self-portraits, discussing our senses, creating rainbows representing our favorite things, and bringing in special items from home to share with the class. We’re having so much fun at school, celebrating what makes each of us unique! 🌈👫 #ReadySetGrow

Please help ECCSS recognize and celebrate these highlights from our ECCSS Board of Education (BOE) meeting this month! Mrs. Julie Howard, Mrs. Angie Snyder, Dr. Paul Mizell, and Mr. Mark Stroud shared Short Term Action Plans for the first quarter for CES, CMS, CHS, and The Academy during the ECCSS BOE meeting. Also, Dr. Waters presented Ms. Howard, Ms. Snyder, and Dr. Mizell with special recognition for school- and district- level Beta honors. Each campus was presented with National District of Distinction plaques, and ECCSS was presented with a special award also. This national recognition speaks highly of ECCSS’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership development, and service involvement, and it also illustrates our dedication to preparing students to be college, career, and community ready! Also, the updated school calendar was approved. This calendar includes updates for Tropical Storm Debby make-up days. Also, based on feedback from our strategic plan Action Building Teams, two parent conference days have been added to the calendar. Follow directions below to view the updated calendar, and stay tuned for more information regarding the parent conference days. 🚀 "Watch it Go!" Lab in Mrs. Stephens' 8th Grade Science! 📚 Our 8th graders took part in the exciting "Watch it Go!" lab, where they put their literacy skills to the test by writing detailed procedures. Working in small groups, each student took on a specific role, collecting essential motion data for distance and time. Through this hands-on experience, they learned how to identify when motion occurs and explored the relationship between distance and speed. We're proud of their teamwork and scientific discovery! 👏 #STEMEducation #8thGradeScience #TeamworkInAction
