2:10 Update
Safety sweeps of all classrooms reveal no weapons. The lockdown has been lifted at ECCSS schools. The threat was determined to be a prank call made by an 8th-grade student. The student who made the call was placed into custody, and the district will follow through with disciplinary action.
ECCSS encourages parents to have conversations about the seriousness of school safety and the importance of speaking up when anything seems out of line. Threatening messages, actions, and/or possessions will be dealt with to the fullest extent of the law.

ECCSS implements safety protocols after receiving information from local authorities about a threat made by an anonymous caller. The safety of our students, staff, and community is our number one priority.

Please see this important announcement from our friends at the Claxton-Evans County Chamber of Commerce!
Evans County, we need your input! Please take a couple of minutes and complete this survey from the University of Georgia Connected Resilient Communities Program: https://tinyurl.com/4s7ph6vj
We are excited to announce that Claxton-Evans County has been selected as one of four communities to participate in the University of Georgia Connected Resilient Communities Program. This allows us, as a community, to identify our greatest community needs and work with UGA staff and partners to address these needs. This is a HUGE DEAL for our community, and we need to take advantage of this opportunity.
To begin the process, community members are asked to complete a survey; survey link is included below or scan QR code on flyer for access to the survey. Deadline to complete the survey is April 13th. Please share this with family, friends, and co-workers. It is crucial that we have a good response from the community. We need to hear from YOU.

Just before spring break, The DEN hosted this year's Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet. The CHS cafeteria was transformed into a beautiful venue, and Culinary Arts provided catering for the event. The meal, prepared for the 165 ticket holders, consisted of a mixed greens salad dressed in a vinaigrette, smoked ham, mushroom smothered chicken breasts, garlic whipped potatoes, squash casserole, green beans, warm rolls, and banana pudding. The DEN is grateful for this opportunity to serve our community!

Morelia Ramos, a junior at Claxton High School (CHS), walked away with the grand prize in The DEN’s FLEX (Foundational Leadership and Entrepreneur X-perience) competition. Ramos's "Ramos By Morelia" designs earned the grand prize of $5,000.
During the final round of the competition, Morelia Ramos, Alyssa Jones, Joselin Baltazar and Rachel Wilkie, the FLEX Finale competitors, pitched their businesses to a panel of judges. During each presentation, the contestants included an overview of their businesses and experiences in entrepreneurship, how they balanced school and work responsibilities, the challenges and opportunities they faced, and how they planned to use the prize money to grow their small businesses.
CHS is one of ten schools in the state of Georgia participating in this year-long program designed to grow and recognize young entrepreneurs through formal study and a "Shark Tank" style competition. Students participating in the FLEX program learn more about the trials and tribulations of entrepreneurship, and they have a chance to win cash prizes.
As the winner of the school-level FLEX competition, Ramos earned a $5,000 check and advances to the state competition on April 12 in Fitzgerald where she will compete against nine other schools for $10,000.
