We are teaching our students accountability, and one of those ways is through one of the 7 Mindsets- 100% Accountable. "Everything you want is on the other side of fear." Jack Canfield

CHS ELA classes spent several days in a Young Georgia Authors Writing Tasting. Each of the ELA teachers focused on a different type of writing, and the students visited all 3 ELA classrooms to get a taste of these types of writing. Mrs. Walker focused on learning more about writing informational texts using the Scope magazine. Ms. Hedden taught about constructing a graphic story. Mr. Lanier shared about poetry by showing videos of examples of spoken word competitions. #Collaboration #CriticalThinking #Creativity #YGA

🚌📊 Navigating Numbers: 2nd Graders Graphing Their Journeys to School 🚌📊 Mrs. Hallman's 2nd grade class has been working on asking and answering questions using graphs. They gathered data on their way of transportation to school and in pairs created graphs using drawings, stickers, or actual pictures. Sharing and discussing their graphs helps teach the value of organized data. #ReadySetGrow #CES

Firefighting recruits learned the importance of clear, concise communication. To practice this challenging skill, a team leader sat apart from the group and communicated instructions via radio for assembling a simple Lego construction. Once the message was received by the team, members began following commands. Instructor, Brian Croft, emphasized to students that this activity simulated circumstances found in a real fire situation. #TheDEN #realworld

Mr. Harris...You’ve got something yellow on your forehead! This week, in Life Science, Mrs. Brown’s 7th grade students have been learning all about organisms. They participated in a vocabulary review activity where the students were challenged to find the word that matched their definition. Garrison Sapp pulled the “lucky” definition to match Mr. Harris’s word, multicellular. Good job, Garrison! And, thank you, Mr. Harris, for participating in the fun learning activity! #RoarANDSoar

Nailing a job interview requires practice, and Mrs. Lane's Introduction to Business students are doing just that! Each student completed a basic job application and participated in a one-on-one interview with Mrs. Lane as peers observed and offered feedback. On 8/10/23, Earl Anderson invited a student who did not have anyone to work with to come work with his group. In addition, Earl stated something positive to the entire class about the student who he invited. While the class was at the restroom, Earl also spent time teaching this student how to shadow box. A student, who is often left out, had a better day at CMS today and it was because of Earl Anderson. The student even asked to move and sit next to Earl in class. At CMS, we are encouraging our students to rise above expectations and Soar like Eagles! Earl has demonstrated exactly what we want, and he was called to the office for a positive office referral and an ice cream pass from Mrs. McDowell. #RoarAndSoar
