Our ECCSS finalists for the Community MLK Competition have begun practicing across the district! They've worked hard to share a message about the people, events, and ideas that have helped communicate positive change for equality, and we are excited for them to share their messages on Saturday, February 3rd, at 10 AM, at the MLK Oratorical Community Competition, at CMS! CMS baseball tryouts will be January 23rd -25th, 3:15-5:15 each day. Students must have a current physical on file, make two out of three practices, and must be passing five of seven classes.

🏃‍♀️✨ Calling all 3rd-5th grade female trailblazers! Girls on the Run is not just an afterschool program; it's a journey of empowerment, friendship, and fun like no other! 🌟👭 For 10 weeks, twice a week, girls in grades 3rd-5th get the chance to embark on an adventure that combines laughter, new friendships, increased physical activity, and the learning of invaluable life skills. 💪 Led by caring and trained sponsors, each session is packed with interactive lessons and running activities that make every moment a stepping stone toward confidence and resilience. 🎉📚 But that's not all – the grand finale awaits! 🏁 At the end of these transformative weeks, our girls will have the incredible opportunity to participate in a noncompetitive 5K event, celebrating their strength and achievements. 🏃‍♀️🌟 Act fast, as there are only 15 spots available! Flyers are waiting in the front office at Claxton Elementary School. The program fee is $150; however, financial assistance is available, ensuring every girl has the chance to thrive, laugh, and run towards a brighter, more empowered future! 🌈💖 #ReadySetGrow #GirlsOnTheRun

CMS invites you to support the CMS Baseball Team by purchasing a raffle ticket for a home safe. Tickets can be purchased in the front office at CMS/CHS, from a student, or from a coach. THE DRAWING IS THIS FRIDAY, JANUARY 12TH! We thank you for our support!

ECCSS will be closed on Tuesday, January 9, due to the expected storm system that will be in our area tomorrow. ECCSS made this decision after discussions with our Evans County Emergency Management Agency (ECEMA) and based on the most recent weather forecasts. Currently, the greatest concern is the potential for wind gusts on Tuesday which could impede the safe operation of school buses. We plan to reopen on Wednesday, January 10. Please continue to monitor our website, district Facebook page, ECCSS Push Notifications, and Kinvo (messaging system for parents/guardians) for additional information. The safety of our students, staff, families, and community is our number one concern.

Students in Mrs. Brown's 7th grade science classes have been studying fossils. They had fun ending the unit with a fossil dig! For each fossil that they found, they spent time analyzing and interpreting data for patterns in the fossil that document the existence, diversity, and extinction of organisms and their relationships to modern organisms. #4Cs #RoarANDSoar

ECCSS is monitoring the weather system that is predicted to go through our area tomorrow. ECCSS officials are coordinating with Evans County Emergency Management Agency (ECEMA) to discuss updates and possible impacts. ECCSS plans to share an update after 2:00 PM today. On Wednesday, January 24th at 2PM, Ms. Layne Peacock from the CHS Media Center and Mrs. Sabrina Wright from the Evans County Library will be sharing about all the literacy options that are available throughout the year, not just during school.
