Emily Stephens, 7th Grader at Claxton Middle School, taught 6th Graders in Ms. Adams' Career Awareness class about the career of Ornithology. She began the presentation with a game of bird matching. Students received a prize for matching the correct bird name with the correct bird picture. The 6th Graders really enjoyed learning from one of their peers! #4Cs
Mrs. Stephens’s Tiger Pride class has finished collecting clothing donations, and they will go to a local homeless shelter. After being inspired by our 7 Mindsets lesson, these 6th grade students decided on their own to help those in need and planned this community help project for the month of March. Stay tuned for what’s next!!
CMS STEM classes are celebrating the Easter season with an Egg Drop experiment. Students designed a contraption to keep a raw egg from busting when dropped from a higher elevation. 8th grader, Lily Pennell, who really wants to be a firefighter, even got to try out the fire hose! Thanks to the Fire Department and the use of their fire truck which made the experiment a success!
Claxton Middle School held its first Book Fair Parent Night event on Thursday, March 30th. Parents had the opportunity to shop the book fair with their children and were given important Title I and literacy information about our school. We are thankful for everyone who came out to support the book fair!
Ms. Kirk's 4th graders have some opinions about the best place in a house for a TV!
Check out these Tigers using their Flow Maps for brainstorming and collaborating with their peers to draft claims and reasons for where a TV needs to be!

7th graders in Mrs. Smith's Career classes are learning how their studies in school relate to career choices in the real world. Mayor Eddie Ball visited with the students to teach them to be BADD: Brave in school, Anxious about school, Determined and Dedicated in school. While he was talking about his life in the Air Force, he encouraged students to listen to their parents and teachers, make right decisions, to take advantage of their learning and the opportunities that they are given to advance their education through higher learning, and to take advantage of dual enrollment classes. We appreciate Dr. Ball and his encouraging words for our students!
Fourth Grade students went on a field trip to the Savannah Children's Theater. Once there, students were able to learn about different structural elements of a play and rehearse a short play either about Government or Westward Expansion. After rehearsing, the students then presented their play to an audience of teachers and parents. #CES
