Halloween was a blast at CMS. Students and staff were allowed to dress in costumes, and the CES Pre-K classes came over to get a treat from the CMS House leaders. A great time was had by all!

Mrs. Lane's Intro to Business & Business Law classes researched "dead" companies & created items for this "scary" cemetery for Halloween. We had an amazing time celebrating our 250+ incredible students who met their Accelerated Reading or iStation goals with the Georgia Southern University Wildlife Program. 🌟🐍 From up-close encounters with incredible snakes to the majestic birds of prey and even the unique Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches – it was a day filled with awe and wonder. A huge shoutout to all these students for their hard work, and a massive thank you to Georgia Southern University for making this wildlife show possible. 🦉🐍

During halftime at our CHS Lady Tiger Flag Football game on 10/24/23, we had the privilege of honoring our dedicated and inspiring teachers. They're the real MVPs both on and off the field!
Each of the Lady Tigers chose a teacher and presented them with a gift and a handwritten thank you card.

Get ready for a day of "spooktacular" fun at Claxton Elementary School! 🎃👻
🎭 Costume Guidelines:
-Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning. No masks and costumes should not restrict movement or vision.
-Costumes must not be violent or suggestive.
-No accessories or props that could be used as a weapon are allowed. Say no to water pistols, knives, or swords.
-Remember, all costume preparations are to be completed at home. No dressing up or applying make-up or colored hairspray at school.
-Make-up or face-paints are permitted.
-Don't forget to wear appropriate shoes.
-Costumes should be fun, not offensive or inappropriate in any way.

Our CMS 7 Mindsets focus for this week is "Embrace Everyone" because "We Are All Connected."
CMS 7th and 8th grade students had the opportunity to participate in TEEN MAZE on Friday, October 27th. TEEN MAZE began on Thursday evening, October 26th, with a community night where parents were able to view a sample of what their children would see the next day. Then, on Friday, 7th and 8th graders spent most of the day, beginning with a party scene and crash scene portrayed by members of the CHS Drama Team. Then students rotated through stations where they were given important information about gangs, vaping, sexual behavior/abuse, life and loss, social media and internet safety, abusive behavior, life skills and financial planning, substance and drug abuse, learners and drivers licenses, and how to know their worth. After the rotations and lunch, a guest speaker, Ms. Marni, spoke to the students about her daughter who unfortunately committed suicide at a young age. It is our hope at CMS that our students will take this information that has been presented and use it to help them make wise decisions that will help them become successful, productive citizens. We appreciate so much all who helped make this a successful event.
When you’re out and about in town, look for our CHS students in various businesses. Our Work-Based Learning juniors and seniors are contributing to the community in a variety of jobs. Senior Charles Oglesby is helping customers at Claxton Hardware & Building Supply. Whether you need project supplies or something to enhance that seasonal curb appeal, Charles can help you out.
