Each middle school teacher will select one student who exemplifies high personal character. These students will be invited to attend the middle school game free of charge and will be recognized during half time of the boys game.

Kindergarten students read the book, Balloons Over Broadway, by Melissa Sweet. It is the true story of the puppeteer of Macy's Day Parade. Students designed balloons to be a part of their own parade. They identified characters in books to illustrate and describe. After taping their creations to a balloon, they drove it down their parade route using Dash the robot. Students in Mrs. Lyons' class did an excellent job using digital technology to communicate their learning! #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

Did you know that Macy’s Parade balloons start with a pencil sketch? Aerodynamic and engineering consultants then use math calculations to make sure that the balloon will fly properly. Prototypes are made out of clay and painted before the actual balloon is cut out of fabric. Each balloon is tested for flight and revisions to the design are made. This engineering design process can take up to a year before the actual parade day arrives.
Kindergarteners went through some of the same thought processes as they prepared for their parade. There was even a practice run prior to parade day! #CES #ExcellenceLeadershipFamily

CMS sent a group of teachers and support staff to the Ron Clark Academy (RCA) Experience this week! This professional learning experience is designed to help participants learn skills and teaching strategies that can "ignite a passion for learning, provide meaningful support, encourage academic excellence, foster authentic relationships, and ensure a climate and culture where all students and staff thrive." All of these goals of the RCA Experience are connected deeply to CMS's School Improvement Plan (SIP).
Our CMS attendees, Stephanie Myers, Ellen Brown, Phillip Sapp, Katie Bowers, Üstün Bardak, and Maurice Burney, are on FIRE with excitement and ready to share all that they learned at RCA with our CMS students and staff!

On Thursday, students in grades 2-5 who met their AR goals were rewarded with a pizza party. To qualify for the reward, students had to read a minimum number of books within their targeted Lexile range and make 80% or higher on the comprehension check. CMS students who have worked hard in class and have completed all assignments are learning that hard work pays off. Students are now able to come to the media center and play Virtual Reality games. Students have the option of a music game (Beat Saber), a fishing game, or the chance to design and ride their own rollercoaster.
