Reminder- The Community MLK Writing and Speaking Competition is this Saturday, February 11th, from 10:00-12:00, at the CMS Gym.
We wish all of our CES, CMS, CHS and The Academy finalists ALL THE BEST in the competition!

Most students hear the word "draft," and they automatically think about sports. Students in Mrs. Ikner's 6th grade Language Arts classes are reading Ender's Game, and they are learning what the government draft was. In class, they are collaborating with peers to research and answer the question, "Do we still need the draft?" Students are given a certain amount of time to research the question and put together a response that they present to their classmates. #4Cs #ProjectBasedLearning

Firefighting students participated in a prescribed burn today. They put their studied skills to use and afterwards enjoyed some good food and fellowship!
Year 2 Firefighting will sit for the National Firefighting Exam tomorrow. A state fire official will be on campus to administer the test. We wish these recruits the best as they strive to earn their credentials!

Students in Mrs. A. Robinson's Biology classes began their unit on Genetics by exploring the properties of dominant & recessive alleles. Mrs. Robinson introduced the content, & students were able to complete some simple experiments. Understanding that dominant alleles always display, students proved this by using green & yellow water. When the yellow was poured into the green, the green displayed, & the yellow was covered. When the green was poured into the yellow, the green still displayed, proving that green was the dominant, & demonstrating Mendel's Law of Dominance. #Collaboration #CriticalThinking
