Due to the weather this afternoon the CMS baseball game has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for March 12th at 4:30 PM.

CHS Baseball fans- due to weather concerns, only the varsity baseball team will play in Savannah today versus Jenkins High School. There will be no JV baseball game today. #BlackAndGold

It’s an American icon found in nearly every U.S. town and city, so of course Claxton has one. You can find several of our WBL students at work here- in the Claxton McDonald’s! Featured (left to right) are sisters Olivia and Noemi Mejia, both CHS seniors. You may remember that Olivia qualified to compete in a national culinary competition last summer, and her post-graduation plan is to obtain work as a chef. Noemi’s post-graduation plan is to pursue higher education to obtain a degree in the area of Physical Therapy. These two ambitious young ladies have plans, and they soon will graduate fully prepared to set them in motion. CHS will be cheering you on! Way to go, Olivia and Noemi! #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess #TheDEN

Last week, our PreK class had a fantastic lesson on dental hygiene 🦷, learning all about teeth and how to keep them healthy. The team from Claxton Smiles visited to share a story 📚 and demonstrate the correct way to brush and floss. They kindly left behind goody bags 🛍️ for each student, packed with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a timer ⏳. A big thank you from PreK! 🙏

Pathful Explore is an online platform that helps students explore careers and colleges, build skills, and create plans for life after high school. The Feb. 22, 2024 visit with Kathy Riner provided CHS students with an in-depth walkthrough of the platform's key features and how to get the most out of using Explore as students think about their future career and education plans. This training equipped students to fully leverage the platform as they explore their options and create their unique plans for the future. #LifeAfterHighSchool #RealLife #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess

FLEX is an innovative program designed to empower local youth with foundational leadership and entrepreneurship skills. It's a hands-on experience that equips our young talents with the knowledge, tools, and mindset needed to thrive in the ever-evolving world of business.
We are currently in round three of the competition. In this round, the top 3 student owned businesses from each community use feedback from Round 2 judges to make improvements to their businesses. Students hone their public speaking skills during this round by giving their pitch at community meetings and events. Student entrepreneurs also focus on business finance and their growth plan during this round. All of this hard work is done in order to prepare for their local Finals competition! #TheDEN #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess

Last week, Claxton Elementary teachers were thrilled to receive specialized professional development from Karen Cangemi and Allison Stull of Pioneer Valley Books. These sessions were even graced by a visit from Michele Dufresne, the celebrated author and owner of Pioneer Valley Books.
Our K-5 reading educators had the chance to observe live demonstrations of group reading sessions, gaining practical insights and engaging directly with the experts. These interactions centered around refining instructional strategies to enhance literacy teaching.
We're incredibly thankful for our enriching partnership with Pioneer Valley Books, which supports our ongoing mission to advance literacy education. A big shoutout to everyone involved in making this happen! 📚💡
