Last week, Claxton Elementary teachers were thrilled to receive specialized professional development from Karen Cangemi and Allison Stull of Pioneer Valley Books. These sessions were even graced by a visit from Michele Dufresne, the celebrated author and owner of Pioneer Valley Books. Our K-5 reading educators had the chance to observe live demonstrations of group reading sessions, gaining practical insights and engaging directly with the experts. These interactions centered around refining instructional strategies to enhance literacy teaching. We're incredibly thankful for our enriching partnership with Pioneer Valley Books, which supports our ongoing mission to advance literacy education. A big shoutout to everyone involved in making this happen! 📚💡 #ReadySetGrow #PioneerValley

🌈✨ Witnessing the magic of science! 🌈✨ Recently, Mrs. Myers's students embarked on an enchanting journey into the world of light waves and refraction. Through a captivating magic trick involving a vanishing coin, they explored the wonders of bending light and uncovering hidden secrets. But that's not all! With the sun shining brightly and the weather on our side, they delved even deeper into the spectacle of nature. Using prisms to disperse light, they watched in awe as ordinary sunlight transformed into a breathtaking array of colors, painting the sky with vibrant rainbows. 🌞🌈 In a moment of discovery, one student astounded us all by mastering the art of refraction, successfully isolating the color red from the spectrum. Their keen eye and curiosity unlocked a world of possibilities, reminding us that true magic lies in the pursuit of knowledge. 🎩🔍 Experiencing the beauty of refraction firsthand, our students learned that magic isn't just in the tricks we perform, but also in the natural phenomena that surround us every day. Here's to embracing curiosity and uncovering the wonders of science! 📚🔍 #ScienceIsMagic #LearningThroughPlay #RainbowWonders #RoarANDSoar

The opportunities are endless for our CHS Work-Based Learning students. Senior Wade Eller enjoys working with his hands and being outdoors, and his role as farm assistant with Delta Transport is a perfect fit. He is able to do everything from caring for farm animals to landscaping, and he enjoys it all. Through this job placement, Wade puts to use the knowledge he gained in his agricultural classes. After high school, he plans to pursue a different type of outdoor, hands-on work. He plans to pursue certification as a lineman. CHS is very proud of you, Wade! #BlackAndGoldBuildingSuccess #TheDEN
