🚒🥚 EGGciting News from Claxton Middle School! 🥚🚒
Our STEM students in Mr. Sapp's classes rose to the challenge during our recent Egg Drop experiment, showcasing their engineering creativity by using the Engineering and Design Process! Tasked with designing a contraption solely from recyclable materials, our young innovators developed solutions to protect an egg from a thrilling drop off a fire truck.
A huge shoutout to the Claxton Fire Department for their essential support and for making this incredible learning experience possible. Their participation not only brought the excitement but also inspired our students to think bigger!

🧮💻🐾 Technology, Real-World Applications, and Math, Oh My! 🎉
Students in Mrs. Kaley Hallman's second grade class have been diving into adding multiple two-digit numbers! 📚 They put their new skills to the test by choosing and researching potential class pets, exploring the cost of their supplies. Using their Chromebooks, students visited pet store websites to research prices for items they wanted to "purchase" for the class pet they chose! 🖥️🐶🐱 Then, they applied their math skills to add up those numbers and calculate the total cost of their pet! 🧮💰

CHS Baseball hosted their annual First Responders Night at Tiger Town. Members of the Claxton Police Dept., Claxton Fire Dept., Evans Co. Sheriff Office, Evans Co. Fire, Evans EMS, and GA State Patrol were represented.
First Responder and Diamond Girl Karla McNeese threw the first pitch to Firefighter and Senior Will Parker. Both of these seniors are members of Claxton Fire Dept.
Thank you to all our first responders for all they do to help keep us safe and take care of us in some of our most stressful situations.

Please join us at the BOE today at 3:00 PM for our Charter System Training for our Board!
Susan Avant, a consultant from the Charter System Foundation, will join us to review charter requirement, benefits, and the Peach Education Tax Credit.
A Hyundai representative will also be on site to talk about opportunities, plans, partnerships, and more.
Shawn Utley, from the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), will talk about TCSG opportunities and the Accelerated Career Diploma. There will also be a Q& A session.

These students are interviewing today for a summer internship with ACE Electric! They have expressed an interest in electrical systems and hope to explore this career under the mentorship of ACE Electric experts.
Internships are commonplace at the college level and are growing in high schools as these opportunities help students confirm their interest and talent in identified career fields and build resumes for future opportunities.
At The DEN, we work hard to ensure all students can put their stripe on the workforce within our local community and beyond.
