7th graders in Mrs. Sapp's math classes showed great COLLABORATION and COMMUNICATION skills as they worked in groups to measure a scale drawing of the basketball court.. This hands-on project enabled them to think CRITICALLY about how to accurately apply proportional math to a real-world setting. Activities like this help prepare our students for college, career, and community! So proud of the teamwork and effort shown by our 7th grade math students today! #roarANDsoar #4Cs

Our 6th grade students had a blast with the airplane challenge in Mrs. Myers’ class last week! The hands-on activity allowed them to learn about distance, time, and calculating speed in a fun way. Students worked in teams to build paper airplanes, and then they tested how far their plane could fly. They measured the distance traveled and timed how long the flight took. Using this data, students practiced calculating the speed of their airplane. The airplane challenge provided an engaging way for students to explore key math and science concepts. More importantly, they gained valuable experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from the real world. We're so proud of how hard our students worked on this STEM activity. They showed creativity, teamwork, and perseverance while having fun. #4Cs #roarANDsoar

Each group in Mr. Croft's firefighting class was tasked with collecting items to start a small fire. This technique teaches the idea that you should start with items with more air to mass ratios like paper or straw and then add more dense items as the fire grows. This also teaches students how orientation of items burn differently. For instance, because of preheating, a vertical stack will burn faster than a horizontal stack. #TheDEN #RealWorld

During a recent training, Kindergarten through 2nd Grade teachers were equipped with the skills to provide impactful instruction in critical areas such as reading, writing, phonemic awareness, and phonics. This allows students to immediately transfer these foundational skills to reading and writing, reinforcing learning in whole and small groups. Teachers learned new ways to incorporate multisensory activities, which will enhance the learning experience for students. #ReadySetGrow #CES

Coach McLean's health classes worked in a group to develop a fictional character called "Magazine Man". The groups collaborated together to give their person a life and specifically focused on the health of their character. Students focused on life expectancy and quality of life and what factors affect both of them. The students had to pick three positive and three negative factors and put them on a folder board to represent what type of life the "magazine man" might have. This activity allowed our students to use the 4 Cs: communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Using the 4 Cs means students are better prepared for college, career, and community! We would like to thank the Evans County Public Library for sharing magazines with us to reuse for this learning! #4Cs #RoarAndSoar #SchoolAndCommunityConnections

Students in Ms. Adams’s 8th grade English Language Arts classes are reading a graphic novel, annotating the novel, and writing objective summaries about the novel. Students enjoy collaborating with their PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) to get their assignments completed! We want our students to be able to work well with others while completing tasks and assignments. Here at CMS, it's not just about what you learn...it's how you learn it! #4Cs #RoarANDSoar
