The Academy will hold its annual Title I meeting on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 6:00 PM. All parents and stakeholders are invited to attend. The meeting will be held in the kitchen area of The Academy.

CES hosted their first ever Extreme Tiger Spirit Day on Friday, August 26. This celebration is to help our youngest Tigers develop TIGER PRIDE, and we are connecting these efforts to this month's 7 Mindsets theme: We are all connected!

Ms. Murphy and Mrs. Barrow's kindergarten classes learned about the five senses in science this week. Kindergarteners used their senses (sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound) to observe popcorn as a yummy snack.
In Cullinary Arts, kindergarten students learned about the 5 food groups and identified each item on their plate.
Ms. Saucedo's class enjoyed spending time in the library Friday morning!

Ms. Murphy and Mrs. Barrow’s kindergarten class worked on building their dream team with this weeks 7 Mindsets lesson.

All 8th grade students need to return their REACH Scholarship applications by Tuesday, Sept. 6th. Applications can be turned into the office, the media center, or given to the homeroom teacher.
Students in Mrs. Liberatore's class are using their Critical Thinking skills. Students participated in a project based learning activity in which they had to make a hypothesis about an object's flexibility, and then they tested the flexibility to determine if their hypothesis was correct.
Mrs. Barthelme’s 2nd grade math class practiced their fact fluency and new graphing skills by completing activities with their groups.
Ms. Thigpen and Ms. Melissa’s PreK class enjoyed their friendship snack and visiting the library for storytime and book checkout.
Mrs. Shaul’s 3rd graders are thinking critically to add within 1,000. They are using multiple strategies, based on place value, to reach the sum.

These students participated in their 9th Grade Commitment Ceremony yesterday at CHS. This event is designed to welcome and celebrate our incoming CHS freshman students. We have it each year to help familiarize students with life at CHS and as an opportunity for our 9th grade class to formally and publicly commit to high school graduation!
The Class of 2026 was welcomed by Ms. Rushing and Ms. Durrence, two of our CHS Counselors, and by Dr. Mizell, our CHS principal. Three former CHS 9th graders, Miranda Garrido, Conner Miller, and Ruben Berry, shared inspiring words of wisdom with the Class of 2026! Ms. Hart and our CHS Culinary classes treated attendees to refreshments!
Thanks to all the students, parents, and families who attended, and thanks to our CHS students and staff for making the 9th Grade Commitment Ceremony a special event for the Class of 2026!
Check out students in Ms. LaSala's 5th grade science classes! Students flexed their 4C muscles to actively engage with a learning task connected to erosion!
These 5th graders were communicating, collaborating, and critically thinking about real-life experiences related to erosion: roads washing out, rivers flooding, and fields washing away!

Mrs. Herrington and Mrs. Morris' Pre-K class created a friendship tree
using their handprints this week. They also discussed all the ways to
be a good friend to one another.
Due to field conditions, there will be no CMS C-Team Softball game today, August 25th, in Jenkins Co. The CMS softball team will practice today at Tiger Town until 5:00 pm.
