Lots of us have heard the story, 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙎𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝙁𝙡𝙮, but how many have heard about the old lady who swallowed a cat, a boat, a Blow Pop, and more???
Mrs. Phillips and her 2nd-grade students read and studied a mentor text called, 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙊𝙡𝙙 𝙇𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙒𝙝𝙤 𝙎𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙩! After reading the story, these creative young authors used rhyme and rhythm to imitate the mentor text they'd studied and to create their own stories!

The 7 Mindsets focus for this week is "Growing Through Life." Students discussed that we all have obstacles to overcome to be successful. As we encounter obstacles in our life, those obstacles shouldn't keep us from obtaining our dreams, but rather, force us to find another path to achieve them. Adversity will happen, but it's what we do with our adversity that makes us who we are. #7mindsets

11/9, 6:15 PM
Update: 6:15 p.m.
There are very little changes at this time. We will continue to monitor weather conditions. At this time all ECCSS operations will be normal for Thursday,
November 10, 2022.
11/9, 2:00 PM: Evans County Charter School System (ECCSS) officials are working with Evans County Emergency Management Agency (ECEMA) to closely monitor Tropical Storm Nicole's trajectory and possible impact.
The safety of the students, staff, families, and community we serve is our top priority as we make decisions regarding the weather. Currently the greatest concern is the potential for wind gusts that exceed 40 mph which could impede the safe operation of school buses.
We will continue monitoring the conditions, so please continue to check our Facebook page or website for updates. Based on updates, the district hopes to announce contingency plans by 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, if needed.

Day of the Dead is celebrated in various Hispanic countries on November 1st and 2nd. In Mexico, altars are made to remember and celebrate the life of loved ones that have passed away. Spanish 2 students created tapetes for Day of the Dead. Tapetes are placed near the altars and include iconic symbols for Day of the Dead. They're also found on the streets in major cities in Mexico. The street tapetes are typically made of colored sawdust. Stay tuned to see the finished products!
